报告人背景与研究:Dr Alex Jones is a Reader in Advanced Proteomics at the University of Warwick. Her research focuses on how plant root growth is regulated by membrane trafficking and protein signalling, specifically to define spatial locations at the cell plasma membrane. Current research in Alex’s group examines phosphorylation events downstream of the receptor-like kinase FERONA and associated protein-protein interactions. FERONA regulates root hair growth, among many other responses such as mechano-perception. A second major area of research is the characterization of oxidative damage in drought-stressed maize. Other areas of research are the role of secretion on phosphate uptake in Brassica roots and arsenic accumulation in barley and rice Main collaborative projects include, the structure-function of the boron efflux pump and modifications to chloroplast proteins in plant-pathogen interactions. Alex is also Director of the Proteomics Research Technology Platform and collaborates on a wide range of science from starfish neuropeptides, through signalling  in cancer to aging in flies.
